Aurora’s Founders in Town

13.05.22

Ingibjörg Kristjánsdóttir and Ólafur Ólafsson, the founders of Aurora Foundation, came to Sierra Leone after a while due to the Covid pandemic and stayed in Freetown and its surroundings for a few days in May.

They visited the Lettie Stuart Pottery Centre and our collaborators, the weavers of Brama Town. They furthermore attended the demo day and graduation of our fourth cohort of the pre-acceleration programme where they handed out certificates and prizes to the graduands. Those in attendance were grateful for the warm presence of the founders and their efforts for the economy and society in Sierra Leone.

The Annual Board meeting of Aurora, together with a regular board meeting, was held in Freetown on Wednesday, May 11, where the rest of the board was connected virtually, and many exciting developments were discussed – so you better watch this space!

The Aurora team here in Freetown was also glad and grateful to enjoy the presence (and some of us for the first time) after a while and we look forward to exciting times ahead.
