Kraumur Music Awards – Jury at Work!

20.11.23

Kraumur music fund was established in 2008 the Aurora Charity Fund in support of Icelandic music and artists – with special attention given to new and emerging talent. The fund operates on both local and on international level, cooperates with various bodies within Iceland’s music sector and annually grants the Kraumur Music Awards for the best albums being released in Iceland.

“The Icelandic music scene is unique in many ways, especially due to the energy and spunk that characterise young musicians. The Sugarcubes and Björk pioneered the global explosion of Icelandic music, and many have followed in their footsteps with amazing results. Now the music coming from Iceland, and the vibrant music scene that the country has to offer, has become one of the strongest links in the promotion of the country and its people abroad. The unusual interplay of pop and classical music that we enjoy here can be a driving force in even further success of Icelandic music on an international level. The support of young musicians, and various forms of cooperation, creates stronger foundation for this new growth in the Icelandic culture.”
