Sweet Salone at Design March 2025: Celebrating the Designers Behind the Vision

07.04.25

We’re still buzzing from our time at DesignMarch 2025, where Sweet Salone proudly showcased the work of our incredible designers and artisans. From April 4–6, our exhibition space in Reykjavík became a vibrant hub of curiosity, conversation, and creativity — all centered around the powerful stories behind our handcrafted, sustainable home goods.

This year, we had the joy of presenting our core collection, featuring the thoughtful and culturally rich work of designers Hugdetta and KER. Their pieces, developed through deep collaboration with Sierra Leonean artisans, beautifully reflect the essence of Sweet Salone: where traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design come together in meaningful, sustainable ways.

As visitors explored the collection, we were reminded just how much design can communicate — across cultures, materials, and methods. The energy in the space spoke volumes, and we can’t wait to share more of it with you.

Another highlight of the event was the coffee corner, sponsored by Gunnar from Sjöstrand. Gunnar delighted attendees by brewing aromatic coffee using Sjöstrand’s state-of-the-art coffee machines, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for networking and relaxation.

Sweet Salone’s participation in DesignMarch 2025 not only showcased the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of Sierra Leone but also reinforced Aurora Foundation’s commitment to empowering local artisans. By connecting international designers with Sierra Leonean artisans, Sweet Salone continues to create sustainable, ethically produced home decor items that positively impact the lives of the artisans and their communities.

The overwhelming support from attendees and partners alike reaffirmed the importance of such collaborative platforms in promoting global design dialogue and cultural exchange. Sweet Salone’s exhibition at DesignMarch 2025 was a testament to the transformative power of design in bridging communities and fostering sustainable development.
