Session with The Betts Firm on taxes and regulations

28.10.21

On Thursday 28th September 2021, Aurora Foundation hosted Mr. Alfred Akibo-Betts, founder of The Betts Firm – a tax, accounting, business, and investment consultancy to throw light on taxes, business registrations and regulations in Sierra Leone.

The session was part of Aurora’s effort to have our start-ups informed about existing business rules and regulations in the areas of registration procedures and taxations that they must follow to start and operate their businesses legally within the country, since some of the startups are now seeking external fundings, growing their teams, or trying get their first international orders.

Participants from the already graduated cohorts one and two joined the third cohort in attendance. Important topics like types of businesses, their registration and operating procedures, including their different tax obligations were delved into. The startups found this interactive session not only educative but also very helpful because it guides them to operate lawfully, thus prevent them from any potential penalties. We wish to express our thanks to Alfred for dedicating his time and organising a session for our start-ups!
