POP-UP market in Iceland a wrap!

12.12.22

Last weekend we hosted our third pop-up market in Iceland. All the products that were available were of course 100% handmade in Sierra Leone, like everything from our Sweet Salone brand. This year we shared the space with the book publisher Angústura! They focus on publishing unique, exciting, and beautiful books by international writers. It was very fitting that we joined forces. Their and our values revolve around craftsmanship, beauty, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The market exceeded our expectations, wonderful people visited us, and bridges across cultures were crossed through various methods; books, conversations, crafts, and music. We are already super excited about next year.

We place great emphasis on respect for all the raw materials that are used in production, and simultaneously that all the artists we collaborate with are properly paid. Each and every product bears the mark of having been handled by a person with love, warmth and care.

There is a lot of growth in the entrepreneurial and creative sector here in Sierra Leone, Aurora Foundation has witnessed that growth, but Aurora Foundation was established in 2007 and has been involved in various projects since then.

Aurora foundation’s purpose is to nurture and cultivate spirit and creativity in society in order to improve and enrich people’s lives. All our projects are intended to stimulate communities in a sustainable way. We believe that human life thrives where individuals are allowed to go their own way, have the opportunity to test their abilities, and practice empathy with others.

Through the Sweet Salone project, we see this come true. People get to put their talents to the test, go their own way and flourish. Beautiful things happen and become reality. The individual as well as the society prospers, perspectives broaden, and cultures connect.
