Job Readiness Essentials Training Equips Participants for Path to Employment

22.09.25

From September 17 to 19, 2025, Aurora Foundation hosted a three-day Job Readiness Essentials Training at Aurora House, located at 35 Fraser Street, Pipeliners Road, Freetown. The session was facilitated by Ajara Marie Bomah, Founder and Strategist at Women Mean Business. The training brought together 20 participants, including 6 women, to build essential skills and confidence for entering the job market.

The training was designed to guide attendees toward sustainable employment by covering key topics such as CV and cover letter writing, interview techniques, workplace professionalism, and effective job search strategies. Participants also received an introduction to digital literacy tools relevant for both office-based and remote work settings.

Over the course of three days, participants engaged in interactive sessions including mock interviews, group discussions, and individual goal-setting exercises. They explored how to identify and communicate their strengths, practised real-life interview scenarios, and developed practical plans to pursue job opportunities. The sessions were hands-on and allowed space for personal reflection, feedback, and peer learning.

Of the 20 participants, 6 were women, a promising step toward greater gender inclusion in the workforce. Attendees shared positive feedback on the training, highlighting increased confidence, better understanding of employer expectations, and renewed motivation to take the next step on their career paths.

Aurora Foundation will continue to support participants in the coming weeks with follow-up coaching and is actively exploring partnerships with local businesses to create pathways for internships and employment opportunities.

We extend our warm congratulations to all participants and sincere thanks to the facilitators and staff who made this training a success.
