ICT Beginner Training for GESL Girls Concludes Successfully

04.08.25

From July 21st to August 1st, 2025, Aurora Foundation, in collaboration with Girls Empowerment Sierra Leone (GESL) and Byte Limited, successfully concluded a two-week ICT Beginner training tailored specifically for girls supported by GESL

Over 50 girls signed up for the program, with 39 attending regularly in two separate batches – morning and afternoon. The sessions were designed to be hands-on, supportive, and beginner-friendly, focusing on practical digital literacy tools that can open doors to further learning and job readiness.

Participants explored essential computer skills including typing, using Microsoft Word, creating and managing emails, and navigating basic computer operations. For all participants, it was their very first time using a computer. From day one, the classroom was filled with excitement and curiosity. Many arrived unsure of how to even turn on a computer but by the end, they were confidently typing, formatting documents in Microsoft Word, and sending emails on their own.

The energy throughout the training was inspiring. From the excitement of typing their first full document, to the satisfaction of sending a professional email, the growth of each participant was clear. The training concluded with a final assessment to evaluate their understanding and practical skills. Out of the 39 attendees, 32 successfully passed the exam and were awarded certificates of completion a proud achievement that marks the beginning of their journey in the digital world.
