28.11.25

The Aurora Foundation is pleased to share the successful completion of a two-day Entrepreneurship Development Training held from November 25th to 26th, 2025, in Port Loko District. This impactful training was delivered by the Aurora Foundation in collaboration with Dim Din Agro Company, one of the promising businesses in our ILO Opportunity Salone Incubations Programme (2024–2025).

The session welcomed 42 accepted participants, out of which 40 successfully completed the full training. The diverse group consisted of women, youth, and persons with disabilities each bringing their ideas, passion, and eagerness to build sustainable livelihoods through entrepreneurship.

Over the two days, participants explored foundational concepts that shape strong, resilient entrepreneurs. They examined the difference between an entrepreneur and a businessman, discussed the qualities that form an entrepreneurial mindset, and learned how to spot problems and develop meaningful solutions for their communities.

The training also guided participants through essential topics such as:

  • Entrepreneurship development concepts
  • Business model creation and development
  • Marketing and customer engagement
  • Steps to starting and formalizing a business
  • Business registration processes in Sierra Leone
  • Selecting an appropriate and market-ready business name
  • Basic financial management and record-keeping

Through these sessions, participants gained clarity on identifying opportunities, understanding customer needs, strengthening financial discipline, and taking practical steps to launch and manage their ventures with confidence.

To deepen their learning, participants engaged in a range of activities including group work, practical exercises, role-plays, Q&A sessions, and business idea development tasks. These interactive methods encouraged collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity, helping participants transform theory into action.

The enthusiasm, commitment, and drive shown throughout the training highlight the growing entrepreneurial spirit within Port Loko District.

Aurora Foundation remains committed to supporting these emerging business leaders as they continue their journey toward building resilient, innovative, and sustainable enterprises. Together, we are shaping a brighter path for local innovators and change-makers.
