On April 17th, we proudly concluded a four-day Advanced Excel course, hosted at the Aurora Foundation’s training centre at Aurora House in Freetown. This course is one of many capacity-building efforts aimed at empowering young Sierra Leoneans with practical, market-ready skills.
We received an impressive 71 applications from enthusiastic learners across Freetown, a strong signal of the growing interest in digital literacy and professional development. From this pool, 26 participants were enrolled based on merit and motivation. Of those, 21 attended the full course, and we are pleased to announce that 18 participants successfully graduated.
The training, which ran from the 14th to the 17th of April, was delivered in partnership with Byte, a local organization dedicated to advancing digital skills in Sierra Leone. Their experienced facilitators led participants through a hands-on journey covering advanced spreadsheet functions, data analysis tools, and professional reporting techniques.
This initiative not only builds competence in Microsoft Excel—an essential tool in many workplaces—but also reinforces our ongoing commitment to youth empowerment through education and technology. Participants expressed their gratitude and excitement, noting how the course will support their academic, entrepreneurial, and professional goals.
We at Aurora Foundation are deeply inspired by the dedication of these young minds and are proud to support their growth. We extend our thanks to Byte and all those who contributed to making this training a success.
