Aurora Foundation Sponsors the First Issue of Muyu Journal

06.05.26

Aurora Foundation proudly sponsored the launch of the first issue of Muyu Journal, unveiled on 17 April 2026 at Things & Somethings Aberdeen Road, Freetown. Titled The New Landlords, the first issue brings together voices from Sierra Leone and its diaspora to explore belonging, reinvention, and the spaces people make their own. Through photography, poetry, and reflection, the journal captures the spirit of a generation shaping new narratives of home and place.

The New Landlords reflects on what it means to define one’s own ground. Rooted in lived experience and creative expression, the issue examines how place, memory, language, and identity continue to shape the stories Sierra Leoneans tell about themselves and the futures they imagine. By sponsoring the launch of Muyu Journal, Aurora Foundation celebrates the power of storytelling and the importance of platforms that amplify Sierra Leonean voices, nurture artistic expression, and connect communities at home and across the diaspora. The launch marked more than the release of a print journal. It was a celebration of storytelling, creative courage, and the many voices helping to shape Sierra Leone’s cultural landscape.
