Located within Portloko district, Salamatu Thullah began her journey with a vision rooted in her community. As the founder of Dimdin Agro Company, she specialized in transforming cassava tubers into a variety of value-added products—cassava flour, biscuits, chin chin, and even wedding and birthday cakes. Her journey is a powerful story of transformation fueled by determination and strengthened through the support of Aurora Foundation.
Salamatu’s breakthrough moment came when she participated in a local content competition and won. This achievement opened doors, leading her to Freetown where she showcased her products to the International Labour Organization (ILO) Opportinuty Salone. Recognizing her potential, then ILO connected Salamatu with Aurora Foundation to receive expert coaching and mentorship.
Salamatu undertook a series of transformative trainings with Aurora Foundation. From one-on one mentorship sessions, business coaching, business proposal development, bookkeeping, financial recording and technical assistance. These sessions helped her formalize her business, moving Dimdin Agro Company from an informal rural setup to a structured, revenue generating enterprise.
Today, Salamatu’s business is thriving. Production and sales have steadily increased, and her profitability has followed suit. From selling exclusively in Portloko, Dimdin Women Farmers Association now supplies products in Bo and Makeni. The recent ADF Conference and Expo also helped her establish new market linkages in the capital, where she is now working to expand distribution.

Today, Salamatu stands as a beacon of empowerment a woman turning local resources into business success. Her story is a testament to how training, mentorship, and Support can unlock the potential of local entrepreneurs.
