Opportunity Salone’s Pitch Event & Exhibition: Celebrating the Rise of Young Entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone

Just a few years ago, entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone seemed like a distant dream for many. Today, in 2025, it’s a growing reality—thanks to the powerful support of the European Union and the Opportunity Salone programme, implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO). This initiative is changing the narrative by providing critical support to young entrepreneurs across the country.

Aurora Foundation is proud to serve as an incubation partner for this transformative programme. Together, we’re fostering innovation, resilience, and business excellence among emerging Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

On [insert dates], the Opportunity Salone programme hosted a vibrant two-day Pitch Event and Exhibition in Makeni. Eight promising SMEs from the programme had the opportunity to present their businesses to potential investors, partners, and key stakeholders. The energy in the room was electric as these young entrepreneurs showcased their products, business models, and growth potential.

At the close of the event, 17 SMEs emerged as winners out of 30 participating businesses—receiving well-deserved financial awards to help scale their operations:

  • Sam Faith Enterprises – NLe 590,000

  • Kays Natural – NLe 795,820

  • Gbendembu – NLe 851,200

  • Sierra Soap – NLe 452,528

  • Come & See – NLe 1,000,000

  • 12 additional enterprises each received NLe 250,000

That’s what we call real investment in our youth—and real support for SMEs.

These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent lives being changed, dreams being realized, and businesses being born. They speak to the incredible preparedness, drive, and resilience of Sierra Leone’s next generation of entrepreneurs.

We extend our congratulations to all 17 winners, and our deepest admiration to all 30 participants. Your courage, creativity, and commitment to building sustainable businesses is what Sierra Leone needs.

To the partners, supporters, and stakeholders who made this event a success—thank you. This is what meaningful collaboration looks like. This is progress. This is impact.

Aurora Foundation remains committed to walking alongside these young businesses, providing the tools and support they need to thrive. Because when our entrepreneurs rise, our entire nation moves forward.
