Inkundula Festival: A Celebration of Sierra Leone’s Creative Spirit

06.11.24

Aurora Foundation is proud to have sponsored the inaugural Inkundula Festival, a vibrant three-day celebration of Sierra Leone’s dynamic arts and culture scene. The festival began on the evening of October 31st at the Aurora House, where the atmosphere was alive with energy. Art performances and visual art displays created a captivating environment, setting the stage for what would be a truly remarkable event.

Throughout the festival, we were privileged to host an array of talented artists, including Just Gifted, Taurus, Amire, Zato, Brainset, Geo, Desrah, Blessing, and Granville. Their incredible performances from across Sierra Leone showcased the diverse talent and creativity that make this country’s artistic community so unique.

The festival continued into November 1st and 2nd, with full attendance at several other venues. A particularly insightful panel discussion took place on November 1st at Mango Peak, where our Executive Director, Regina Bjarnadottir, engaged the creative community on important topics such as creative funding opportunities and the growing creative platform in Sierra Leone. The conversation illuminated the exciting future ahead for the country’s arts sector.

In addition to live music performances and art workshops, the festival also featured the theatrical performance Fantsia, a production by wan roof theater Salone adding a unique cultural dimension to the event.

The Inkundula Festival was a testament to the incredible talent and passion of Sierra Leone’s creative community. Aurora Foundation is honored to support and amplify these voices, and we look forward to watching the continued growth of the creative ecosystem in Sierra Leone.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this festival a resounding success!
