Aurora Foundation is proud to highlight the success of the recent Girls in ICT Seminar, held on April 24th, 2025, at the STEM Center Amphitheatre, 3 Kabba Street, Lumpa Waterloo, in celebration of International Girls in ICT Day. The seminar brought together over 160 girls from across the rural district, all with a shared interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This year’s seminar, themed “Girls from STEM,” placed a special focus on visibility, representation, and opportunity for young women in Information and Communication Technology. The event offered a dynamic space for learning, inspiration, and networking, with interactive sessions designed to build confidence and curiosity in the ICT sector.
The highlight of the day was a panel featuring four bright young women currently pursuing careers in various STEM disciplines. These remarkable role models shared their personal journeys, including the challenges they’ve overcome and the motivations that drive their passion for ICT. Their voices struck a chord with the audience, making clear the importance of representation and support within these traditionally male-dominated fields.
Aurora Foundation remains deeply committed to fostering inclusive educational opportunities and is proud to support initiatives that uplift young girls through mentorship and access. The energy, enthusiasm, and sense of purpose witnessed at the seminar reflect the growing momentum toward gender equality in STEM.
We are inspired by the girls’ eagerness to learn and their bold aspirations to shape the future of technology. As always, Aurora Foundation is honored to stand alongside them on this journey.
