Celebrating World Artisan Day – Honouring Craftsmanship and Community

17.04.25

Today, on World Artisan Day, we at Aurora Foundation proudly celebrate the talented artisans behind Sweet Salone—a brand that represents the heart of Sierra Leonean creativity and craftsmanship.

Since 2017, Sweet Salone has been a bridge between international designers and local artisans, creating handcrafted, sustainable home goods that carry the story of tradition, skill, and collaboration. With every woven fabric, every hand-thrown pot, and every carved detail, our artisans bring to life the beauty of Sierra Leonean heritage.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the remarkable communities we work with: the dedicated potters and students at Lettie Stuart Pottery Centre, the masterful weavers of Brama Town, and the vibrant creators at Lumley Arts and Crafts Market. Your work inspires, uplifts, and preserves a culture of artistry that is deeply rooted in our shared identity.

We also take this moment to honour artisans around the world—your hands shape more than objects; they shape stories, futures, and hope.

As we mark this day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting fair pay, skill development, and the continued celebration of craftsmanship through Sweet Salone.
