Aurora Foundation Signs MOU with IOM Sierra Leone as part of the Return and Reintegration Program

18.03.25

On March 17, 2025, the Aurora Foundation was pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Sierra Leone. This significant partnership aims to provide essential training and support the Return and Reintegration Program, empowering returnees with the skills necessary to successfully reintegrate into their communities.

The MOU, which is set to last for one year, reflects our shared commitment to improving the well-being and future prospects of youth in Sierra Leone, particularly returned migrants who have faced numerous challenges along their migration journeys. The collaboration between the Aurora Foundation and IOM will focus on training programs in areas such as entrepreneurship and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with a special emphasis on meeting the individual preferences and capabilities of the participants.

A total of 17 returnees, predominantly female, will benefit from the program. These individuals will receive tailored training that will equip them with valuable skills, enabling them to contribute positively to their communities and enhance their economic prospects. The program’s focus on entrepreneurship will foster independence, while the ICT training will open doors to a variety of career opportunities in the digital age.

The signing ceremony at Aurora House was a momentous occasion, marked by a tour of our facilities. During the visit, the IOM team had the opportunity to observe a live training session, gaining insight into the impactful work already taking place at Aurora Foundation.

Together with IOM Sierra Leone, we look forward to supporting these returnees as they take the first steps towards a brighter future and contribute to the continued growth and development of Sierra Leone.
